- ➤ Firefighters responded Monday morning to a home on Main Street in Occidental after a column of smoke was seen and quickly contained the blaze in the back living area (the home suffered significant smoke and heat damage) while one rescued cat survived and another did not. KSRO Radio
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Sonoma County's first Dave & Buster's opened at Santa Rosa Plaza on Monday, Jan. 26. The 40,000-square-foot venue features VR games, private suites, a human claw machine, and a 40-foot screen wall for sports fans, with doors open daily until 1 a.m. on weekend nights. KSRO Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Santa Rosa City Schools will lay off over 100 full-time staff as part of a fiscal plan (aimed at preventing a state takeover) amid a budget shortfall due to declining enrollment and rising special education costs, with final notices expected by March. KSRO Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Drivers in Schellville now enjoy a safer commute as Highway 121 has reopened to two-way traffic after months of construction. Caltrans finished upgrades on the century-old Arroyo Seco and Yellow Creek bridges, saving commuters from long detours on Napa Road and Eighth Street. KSRO Radio
