  • Sonoma Valley Unified School District will hold a meeting in June to discuss flag policies after Superintendent Jason Sutter requested more student input following the Pride flag controversy earlier this year — the board aims to center future policies on student voice.  KSRO Radio

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Starting Thursday, a record breaking heatwave will bring 90s to Santa Rosa and other parts of the North Bay — experts warn that early snow melt may increase fire risks and prompt state water officials to enact dry season protocols for the Russian River as early as mid-April.  KSRO Radio
  • Wednesday morning, a mountain lion was seen in the G Section near Holly Avenue and Snyder Lane in Rohnert Park — police reported no immediate threat while wildlife officials urged residents to watch their pets.  KSRO Radio

HEALTH NEWS

  • State and federal leaders warned Tuesday at a Santa Rosa town hall that a proposed bill would cut nearly one-trillion dollars from Medicaid and let uninsured patients face loss of coverage while shrinking local subsidies — residents are urged to support actions to protect the community's health care system.  KSRO Radio
  • Sutter Health is breaking ground on a $16 million project to convert a former dialysis center into a new cardiology hub north of Santa Rosa by December. The 13,000 (sqft) facility will double exam rooms and consolidate advanced imaging to reduce patient wait times.  KSRO Radio
