- ➤ At Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport, Alaska Airlines launched service last week — officials say Southwest Airlines will begin operations on April 7 as the facility handled over 45,000 passengers in February. KSRO Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Casa Grande High School in Petaluma was named a 2026 California Distinguished School by State Superintendent Tony Thurmond, recognizing its 93% graduation rate and lower suspension numbers despite over half the students being socioeconomically disadvantaged. It is one of three Sonoma County schools to earn the honor. KSRO Radio
- ➤ Sonoma County superintendent Amie Carter has been unopposed for a second term by the filing deadline; her new four-year term will start in January. She has raised graduation rates and launched her Literacy Promise initiative amid a fiscal challenge in six districts — challenges she will work to fix. KSRO Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Town of Windsor cut its contract with North Bay Animal Services effective March 31, citing mismanagement and inhumane conditions, and set aside $128,000 for emergency animal care through June + officials are negotiating interim agreements with the Humane Society of Sonoma County and Rohnert Park Animal Services. REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Residents are invited to view plans for a new 275-unit mixed-income senior housing community on a 69-acre site; Burbank Housing is hosting a neighborhood meeting from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. today + the project will preserve half the site as open space while expanding affordable housing options.
