  • Sonoma Spice Queen plans to open its second downtown location at 404 Mendocino Avenue by mid-June, offering more than 50 spices and hand-ground blends to fill the gap left by closing major retailers.  KSRO Radio
  • Southern California-based It's a Grind Coffee House opens its first Santa Rosa location today at Santa Rosa Plaza's B Street entrance. The new cafe serves small-batch roasted coffees and a modern menu with breakfast burritos, sandwiches & quesadillas, with a grand opening celebration planned in the coming weeks.  KSRO Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Santa Rosa City Schools Board interviewed three candidates (Teresa Medina, Shaun Du Fosee, and Don Gibble Hernandez) yesterday for the vacant Area 2 trustee seat and planned to appoint a new member immediately after the session amid a $35 million budget cut and potential closure of six campuses.  KSRO Radio

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Coho salmon returned to the Russian River during the last spawning season near Santa Rosa, with over 30,000 adult fish migrating (double the previous record) and signaling progress in river restoration. Local environmental efforts continue to support the health of this key waterway.  KSRO Radio
  • Recology Sonoma Marin’s upgraded plant in south Santa Rosa now processes 350 tons of recycling daily & achieves an 85% recovery rate, though contamination from plastics and fabric remains a challenge for reducing waste.  KSRO Radio
