  • Hundreds gathered Wednesday at the Islamic Society of Sonoma County on Mendocino Avenue to celebrate Eid al-Adha with prayers, food, and charity. Santa Rosa Mayor Mark Stapp attended as police provided extra security, reflecting the community's growth as members from across the North Bay reconnected.  KSRO Radio
  • The Sebastiani Theatre hosts Hollywood Dogs, A Ruff History of Dogs on Film fundraiser this Sunday, May 31 at 1:00 p.m. to benefit Pets Lifeline & will feature an illustrated lecture by film historian Randy Haberkamp, live piano, and adoptable pups; tickets cost $23 for adults and $17 for kids.  KSRO Radio

CULTURE NEWS

  • The General’s Daughter (an 1864 Victorian estate) will reopen next month to host Sonoma Valley Pride's dance on Saturday, June 13 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. The event features DJ Mary Louise, Costa’s Tacos, and wine from Pangloss Cellars and Winery Sixteen 600; tickets cost $30.  KSRO Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Windsor High School students met virtually on Wednesday with author Neal Shusterman in the chambers where the novel Scythe was previously blocked over violence concerns. English teacher Julie Forrest said the conversation validated her months long effort to keep the book in class as the board reversed its ban in February.  KSRO Radio
  • Santa Rosa City Schools trustees will vote tonight on a $76,000 retroactive pay increase for interim fiscal chief Luz Cazares following 80 staff layoffs. District spokespeople say the raise reflects 50 extra days worked beyond her part-time contract and comes from unfilled vacancies amid union criticism.  KSRO Radio

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Historic Jack London estate in Glen Ellen is now for sale as a three-bedroom home built in 1910 for Eliza Shepard, listed at $2.3 million + it sits on a 1.2-acre parcel inside the Jack London State Historic Park and proceeds will help fund the upkeep of a historic vineyard.  KSRO Radio
