- ➤ On July 7th, Windsor firefighters rescued a teen who fell 15 feet from the high school roof after a fireworks show—he suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital as crews, aided by the Sheriff’s Office, managed heavy traffic and later responded to a suspicious fire at Windsor Creek Elementary that caused minor damage and is under investigation. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ After more than a year-long investigation using video surveillance and digital forensics, Santa Rosa Police arrested 54-year-old Christopher McKusick for his role in the Chase Bank robbery on March 21st, 2024, on Sonoma Avenue and booked him into Sonoma County Jail (facing charges of robbery and two counts of probation violation). ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The Sonoma County cannabis industry continues to struggle with a supply surplus, heavy regulations, and rising taxes even after a 45% cut to cultivation taxes in April. The number of growers dropped from 155 to 66 and a planned excise tax increase from July 1 has added pressure — experts say market viability remains in doubt despite steady consumer demand. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ New mail rules take effect at the Sonoma County jail after a lawsuit by the Human Rights Defense Center claimed the old policy was unconstitutional. The county settled for $350,000—so the jail must now accept mail from any publisher unless there is a clear safety risk—while also setting up an appeals process. KSRO Radio

- ➤ On Friday, Petaluma National Little League clinched District 35 titles as the 12U team beat Mark West 5-3 and the 11U squad went undefeated by beating Rincon Valley 9-2.
