ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • At least one person was injured in serious condition in a series of crashes involving six vehicles on Highway 101 at Highway 12 in Santa Rosa on Thursday evening when a semitruck lost a load of lumber that backed up traffic for miles.  KSRO Radio

CRIME NEWS

  • Gregg Jackson, a 40-year-old veteran from Santa Rosa, was arrested for impersonating a police officer & for violating his pretrial release when he used a vehicle with red and blue emergency lights to pose as a bounty hunter; he remains in custody with bail set at $56,000.  KSRO Radio
  • The defense is presenting its case in a federal trial of former Rohnert Park police officer Joseph Huffaker, who is accused of stealing cash and cannabis during traffic stops—his attorney blamed a former sergeant who has pleaded guilty in a similar case and several former colleagues testified as defense witnesses.  KSRO Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Sonoma County Civil Grand Jury report sharply criticized North Bay Animal Services for repeated state law violations—such as failing to sterilize animals, poor licensing management, lack of rabies clinics, and unfiled bite reports—and noted unsanitary conditions at the Petaluma shelter. In response, Petaluma has already announced plans to seek new bids for its animal control contract and Executive Director Mark Scott said the shelter is taking the findings seriously.  KSRO Radio
  • The Gold Ridge Fire Protection District plans to reopen the Bodega fire station this weekend after finalizing a verbal one-year lease with the nonprofit that owns the station — the Bodega Volunteer Fire Department, which closed the station on July 1 amid local backlash. Occidental attorney and former county supervisor Eric Koenigshofer brokered the deal.  KSRO Radio
  • Sonoma County’s Information Systems Department was ranked fifth nationwide for counties of its size by the Center for Digital Government—demonstrating strong technology programs. Over the past year the department worked on key initiatives like an AI policy and digital workflow improvements for better efficiency.  KSRO Radio
