- ➤ Dean Biersch, co-founder of Gordon Biersch Brewing and owner of HopMonk Taverns, is seeking a new owner-operator for Twin Oaks Roadhouse at 5745 Old Redwood Highway for $425,000—the sale includes the operating business and liquor license but not the property as the current lease ends this year. Built in 1924, the roadhouse has high ceilings, a fireplace and a 1700 square foot beer garden that hosts shows for up to 175 people while employing four full-time and seven part-time staff. - ➤ Republic Services is working to resume regular trash pickups amid a nine-day strike that has left garbage piling up in parts of the Bay Area—replacement workers are handling limited collections as union negotiations continue. NBC Bay Area

- ➤ Bioluminescent kayak tours in the North Bay let paddlers see glowing water when waves stir plankton into secret light shows, and local guides plan trips around the moon cycle—tours will resume as warmer nights offer the best viewing. KSRO Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sonoma County created a separate Registrar of Voters department on January 28th to remove election conflicts—appointing Evelyn Mendez as its first standalone Registrar of Voters. Mendez brings nearly 30 years of election experience and will be confirmed by the Board on July 22nd—she will then lead the November 4th elections and the 2026 cycle while earning $195,041. - ➤ Santa Rosa is asking for volunteers to join a budget advisory panel where residents will review the city budget, find ways to lower expenses, and improve revenues. Applications are accepted through July 31 and selected volunteers will work with City Manager Maraskeshia Smith + city staffers for about a year. KSRO Radio
