Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 23rd of July.
Good morning, Santa Rosa.
🏘️ Community
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin is asking for public donations after federal spending cuts by the Department of Government Efficiency led to a loss of thousands in arts grant funding that will not be renewed after September 30th — COO Michelle Heery said — and the organization hopes community support will help keep its services for children.
🌲 Environment
Meteorologists say a stronger marine layer has kept Santa Rosa cooler with fewer 90-degree days and no triple digits so far, and winemakers say grapes thrive in the mild weather—temperatures may warm slightly in August.
🏛️ Government
The Sonoma City Council approved a plan to preserve 18 affordable housing units by authorizing an agreement with Burbank Housing—a North Bay non-profit—to purchase the Setzer Senior Affordable Apartments and Maysonnave Apartments, and the city backed the effort with a $250,000 grant from its Affordable Housing Trust Fund.
