BUSINESS NEWS

  • Vintners Resort in Santa Rosa finished a multimillion-dollar renovation and rebranded as Vinarosa Resort and Spa after more than a year of work—features now include 78 redesigned guest rooms, a new lobby, an updated spa, and a resort pool with cabanas and full-service bar on a 92-acre working vineyard that was acquired last year. This marks the resort's second major overhaul in less than ten years.  KSRO Radio

CRIME NEWS

  • A Sonoma nursing home employee faced theft charges after residents reported missing items over several months—59-year-old Susanne Powell admitted to the theft when confronted and several stolen items were found in her home.  KSRO Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Permit Sonoma is updating the Environmental Impact Report and Specific Plan for the Sonoma Developmental Center after a 2024 court order; the update focuses on a plan from Eldridge Renewal, LLC that will add 990 homes (some affordable), 400,000 square feet of commercial space, a 130-room hotel and new parks to redevelop a 160-acre campus connecting to 750 acres of state park land. The agency will show a Draft Vision Statement and Guiding Principles from nearly 4,000 resident comments to the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors on August 12.  KSRO Radio
  • Sonoma County Supervisors approved almost $6 million to fund mobile crisis units through mid-2026—this 61% boost from Measure O supports teams such as Santa Rosa’s inRESPONSE and the SAFE team that respond to mental health emergencies.  KSRO Radio

  • Bay Area health officials urged parents to have their children vaccinated as back-to-school season approaches. Local officials in Sonoma County say vaccines are safe and help prevent serious illnesses like measles & whooping cough.  KSRO Radio

  • Hidden North Bay sites offer locals off-beaten paths to explore and learn about local history—such as a mysterious spiral labyrinth near Shell Beach, a restored Cold War missile site in the Marin Headlands, and the fading ghost town of Wingo with its eerie ruins. Travelers can also visit Tubbs Island to see the lone toilet and explore Olompali State Park where old legends of curses and lost treasure linger.  KSRO Radio
