  • A new report shows fear growing among North Bay immigrant communities as increased immigration enforcement and tracking apps spark anxiety & local organizations set up hotlines and legal services for support.  KSRO Radio

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Santa Rosa developer Ken Molinaro said his 153-room Cotati Hotel project is on the verge of new financing after years of delays caused by a tough economy and the pandemic—work will resume and take about a year to complete once financing is secured. The hotel is designed to honor Cotati’s musical heritage and help boost local tourism.  KSRO Radio

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Sonoma County remain stable as the average price of regular gas is $4.77 today—down a cent from Thursday and up a cent from last week. A month ago the price was $4.80 and a year ago it was $4.87, while Mendocino County has the highest rate at $4.82 with Napa close behind.  KSRO Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Santa Rosa City Schools will track student attendance during the first two weeks of the new school year so officials can review ten-day enrollment numbers to plan next steps in handling the district’s money problems. The district faces a financial crisis from fewer students—six schools are scheduled to close in the coming months while 150 staff members were laid off in June to help cover half its $20 million budget gap.  KSRO Radio
  • Santa Rosa City Schools are installing security fences at 18 campuses to boost safety after a campus stabbing death last year. Some residents call the fences ugly—while district officials say the measure is needed to control access and will use decorative designs at main areas.  KSRO Radio

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The first six properties linked to the LeFever Mattson bankruptcy were sold on August 8, including three in Sonoma. The sales mark the start of an extensive liquidation of a real estate portfolio once valued at about $400 million—70 properties had already signed purchase agreements by mid-July.  KSRO Radio
