  • Walmart has agreed to settle a lawsuit for $5.6 million over claims it overcharged customers in Sonoma County & other parts of California. The suit said Walmart charged higher prices than advertised for baked goods, produce, and weighed items, violating False Advertising and Unfair Competition laws.  KSRO Radio

CRIME NEWS

  • The Santa Rosa Police Department will review its emergency alert system after a delayed CivicReady notification — sent eleven hours after a murder-suicide that left two sheriff’s office employees dead earlier this week — caused public confusion.  KSRO Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A portion of Highway 101 in Santa Rosa will be closed overnight twice next week as construction crews install supports for a new highway overpass at Hearn Avenue — the southbound lanes will close from 11 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday and the northbound lanes from 11 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday while work continues on a $43.7 million project.  KSRO Radio
  • Santa Rosa police remind drivers that back-to-school traffic is heavy near schools and advise avoiding school zones to help ease delays. The department will increase enforcement on speeding and cell phone use—ensuring safety for students, especially as parents are urged to check that kids wear helmets when biking.  KSRO Radio
  • Immigration advocates demanded that the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors pass a sanctuary ordinance at Tuesday's meeting where many speakers shared personal immigration experiences and fears of ICE detentions+some had also joined a week-long hunger strike outside county offices.  KSRO Radio
