- ➤ Kenzie High, who beat homelessness and addiction, now leads Redwood Gospel Missions' shelter and recovery ministry in Santa Rosa and will move services from the women's shelter - the Rose - to a new 51-bed family campus at the former Finley Dream Center on Summerfield Road. The group relies on donations and aims to help local families as challenges remain in Sonoma County. KSRO Radio
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Authorities identified Santa Rosa resident Brian Mariette as the pilot who died in a plane crash off Humboldt County coast last Sunday—Mariette was the registered owner of the plane and a passenger was airlifted to a hospital. KSRO Radio
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Former SRJC employee Jordan Mead was arrested on March 19 for felony stalking and misdemeanor harassment after months of emailing college staff and had his preliminary trial continued to Oct. 6 due to a discovery error—his lawyer said the evidence arrived too late for proper review. - ➤ Richard Adams, a dump truck driver from Santa Rosa, faces misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charges for a twelve-vehicle crash on Highway 12 that killed retired teacher Pat LaFortune on last August 29—his court proceedings are set for September 24—. KSRO Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Santa Rosa French-American Charter School will move to the old Santa Rosa Middle School campus for the 2026-27 school year to help the district cut its budget deficit, and the move will let the school enroll hundreds more students (adding room for new programs while meeting safety rules). GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sonoma County Executive Officer Maria Christina Rivera announced her retirement early next year and will finish out her three-year contract that began in January 2023 — she is the first Latina and fully bilingual executive in the county. KSRO Radio
