- ➤ A Cloverdale man was arrested for carjacking and assault last Friday in Santa Rosa when he allegedly forced a maintenance worker to let him take a parked truck outside Kaiser Permanente on Old Redwood Highway & police later caught him after a chase in Healdsburg. KSRO Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa announced the sudden departure of its principal, Nicholas Reynolds, just days into the new school year on August 25, and Interim President Linda Norman said the move was not linked to any illegal activity while long-time leaders Catherine Eggleston and Maryanne Berry served as co-principals during the search for a permanent replacement. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local and state regulators are investigating Resynergi, a Sonoma County plastics recycling venture, for operating without proper authorization at three sites including two in Rohnert Park and a test site in southwest Santa Rosa. The company is planning to expand its next-generation recycling operation in Rohnert Park while water quality and county officials review its permits. KSRO Radio
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Developer Bob Dailey proposed a new plan for 18 four story townhomes on a wedge shaped lot near the SMART Train station at Windsor Town Green, scrapping an earlier project because high construction costs made other plans unviable. Town officials and residents worry that the design does not suit the lot's gateway role + may not offer enough affordable housing. KSRO Radio
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday, Evan Franco, a San Jose resident, won the men’s race in the 17th Santa Rosa Marathon while Dakota Vincent from Scottsdale finished as the fastest woman — Franco ended in 2:26:26 and Vincent in 2:52:01. Christopher Reischel and Izzi Gengaro won the half-marathon races — over 3000 runners participated across both events. KSRO Radio
