- ➤ Yesterday, the Hanna Center in Sonoma awarded $250,000 in scholarships to 24 alumni and program participants who will pursue degrees at universities, community colleges, or trade schools — eligibility required completion of its program — and the funds will support their further education. - ➤ The Sonoma Valley Unified School District is launching its search for a new superintendent and will post the job on Monday, September 22nd — aiming to find a strong local candidate. Acting superintendent Rena Seifts is gathering community input — a move to guide the search for the right leader. KSRO Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors updated its hotel bed tax spending policy to simplify the language & left fund allocation unchanged. The board said debates on how to spend the roughly 30 million dollars will continue during next year's budget season & further review is expected. KSRO Radio
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Kaiser Permanente now offers its updated COVID-19 vaccine free to all members six months and older, defying federal guidelines+ California recently adopted a state law that bases vaccine policies on scientific evidence. Health officials report that the late-summer COVID surge is subsiding in Sonoma and Napa counties. KSRO Radio
