EDUCATION NEWS

  • On September 11th the LIME Foundation hosted its 10th Believe in the Dream Legacy Gala at the Luther Burbank Center in Santa Rosa; over 300 people attended and raised $513,000 for vocational training that will help underserved youth learn construction and trade skills — the funds will support future training programs.  KSRO Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The federal government shut down at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday after Congress failed to pass a funding bill, but key services like Social Security, veterans’ clinics, and Head Start centers in Sonoma and Napa counties stayed open. Staffing cuts may reduce services—local federal offices are affected—and closures at places such as Muir Woods and the Marin Headlands were reported.  KSRO Radio
