- ➤ Redwood Credit Union dedicated Monday to its annual Day of Impact at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds—where nearly 1,000 employees partnered with Foster Love to assemble almost 4,000 care bags and birthday boxes for foster youth in San Francisco and North Bay counties. KSRO Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Sonoma State University lost its key teacher diversity program when the federal government cancelled the $3.2 million EDUCA grant—citing the program's focus on equity and diversity. The school said it will replace the funds through the end of spring so current students can finish their teaching residencies. KSRO Radio
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ After a year-long absence, the CRV recycling center in Windsor will reopen by the end of October at the former Windsor Creek Elementary School. It will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and let residents redeem bottle and can fees as it uses a $1 million grant to employ individuals with disabilities. KSRO Radio
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ More than 30,000 Kaiser Permanente health care workers in California and Hawaii will strike starting Tuesday for five days over pay and staffing issues, with union members set to walk off the job until Sunday morning. Kaiser officials said hospitals will remain open with up to 7,600 replacement workers and that the Bay Area picket line is at the Oakland Medical Center—some appointments and elective procedures may be rescheduled.
