- ➤ Wine Country Unites returns this month as nearly 60 wineries from Sonoma and Napa plan to donate $10 from every bottle sold on October 25 to the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence. The event, started by Kelly and Noah Dorrance after their niece was killed, has raised over $170,000 since 2023. KSRO Radio
- ➤ Redwood Credit Union employees assembled nearly 4,000 care bags on Oct. 13 for foster youth in San Francisco and North Bay counties. The packages—made in partnership with Foster Love—will be distributed to local agencies that support these children. KSRO Radio
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Downtown Barbecue, a Santa Rosa eatery on Third Street, will close permanently at the end of October due to rising costs and staffing challenges, and its last meal will be served on October 31—less than a year after its November opening. KSRO Radio
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Sonoma State University lifted its water use advisory after tests confirmed chlorine levels in the campus water have returned to safe standards—students, staff and visitors can now use tap water for drinking, cooking, showering and cleaning. The advisory had been issued over the weekend when high chlorine levels were first detected. KSRO Radio
