- ➤ Santa Rosa City Schools is at risk of a state takeover because of a multimillion-dollar deficit — a new financial report shows that by June the district’s cash balance will fall $2.8 million short of payroll and leaders expect the gap to grow to over $16 million by the next school year. - ➤ Today, Sonoma Ecology Center conducts a controlled pile burn at Montini Open Space Preserve to reduce wildfire risk and restore the ecosystem — visitors may see smoke and encounter temporary trail closures as they follow posted safety signs. KSRO Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local U.S. Coast Guard forces will not assist in the North Bay Veterans Day parade due to the federal shutdown. Organizers said the parade will start at 1 p.m. Tuesday & continue without Coast Guard support. KSRO Radio
- ➤ The FAA's flight rollbacks took effect Friday morning at Bay Area airports due to staff shortages, causing 41 cancellations at SFO and setting up an increase in flight reductions to 10% by Nov. 14—travelers are urged to check flight statuses and consider refund options. NBC Bay Area
- ➤ Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved up to $1 million in emergency funding for Redwood Empire Food Bank to aid residents facing CalFresh disruptions during the federal shutdown. The funds will let the Food Bank expand food distribution through the end of January as the county plans to consider a local emergency declaration on December 9 (43,000 residents depend on CalFresh).
