Good morning, Santa Rosa. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 11th of November.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A century-old cottage in Howarth Park in Santa Rosa was almost demolished in 2019 but has now been saved as the Sonoma County Historical Society signed a lease for $1 a year to use the building as a center for community history meetings — it will fundraise and renovate the Craftsman structure for future events.  KSRO Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Following recent storms, Cal Fire lifted residential burn permit requirements for burning dry, on-property vegetation at single and two-family homes in parts of the North Bay counties including Napa, Sonoma, Lake, Colusa, Solano, and Yolo. Local rules remain — air quality approval days, pile height limits, and constant water supervision are required while agricultural burns stay excluded and the suspension may return if hot, dry weather comes back.  KSRO Radio

HEALTH NEWS

  • If Congress does not extend federal tax credits, thousands of families in Sonoma and Napa counties will face steep health insurance premium increases next year—over 23,000 in Sonoma and 5,800 in Napa could pay about $170 more monthly. Covered California warns that without enhanced subsidies, monthly payments could jump by nearly 90% in Sonoma County and 85% in Napa.  KSRO Radio
