- ➤ Today, after decades of research, 21 lost veterans buried at Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery will be honored in a dedication ceremony—four new stone markers listing their names have been installed near the Franklin Avenue gate. - ➤ Redwood Credit Union has partnered with nonprofit A Simple Gesture to run a food drive that lets donors sign up online for doorstep pickups of shelf-stable food for local food banks in the North Bay and San Francisco until Dec. 19. Volunteers will pick up donations from homes until Dec. 13—after which donors can drop items off directly at SF-Marin Food Bank, Redwood Empire Food Bank, or Community Action of Napa Valley. - ➤ Santa Rosa City Schools are in a financial crisis as district officials confirmed at a board meeting Wednesday night that they must cut $2.8 million immediately and find $23 million for next school year to avoid state takeover — the cuts may trigger massive layoffs while union leaders oppose immediate pay concessions. - ➤ A major new development in Cloverdale raised public concern about connections to a crypto-funded movement during a Wednesday night meeting of residents and officials who questioned developer Devon Zuegel. Zuegel — who denied any plans for political autonomy — said the project is set to build over 600 homes and hotels — aiming to generate up to $80 million in revenue, with a final review scheduled for late February.
