Good morning, Santa Rosa.
🎭 Culture
The Winterblast festival (held this weekend) in Santa Rosa's SofA arts district drew thousands of residents to enjoy a creative parade featuring decorated sofas on wheels and elaborate costumes.
Sponsored by the Santa Rosa Urban Arts Partnership, the free event boosted local art and raised funds for the Santa Rosa Arts Center.
🏛️ Government
Officials broke ground Friday on the long-awaited Hearn Hub Civic Complex in Santa Rosa’s Roseland neighborhood to build a permanent library and a modern fire station that the community has long demanded — the multi-million dollar project is scheduled for completion in summer 2027.
Fire Station 5 in Fountaingrove reopened over the weekend after eight years following the Tubbs Fire—marking a key step in the community's recovery.
The new 8,690-square-foot station cost $23.8 million and now houses a command center and a dedicated wildland fire engine.
🏥 Health
Providence Health is planning to close the inpatient pediatrics ward at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital despite strong opposition from local pediatricians and county advisers — the change will force many low-income children to seek overnight care outside Sonoma County while the hospital continues to offer pediatric support in its Emergency Department and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
