GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Officials broke ground Friday on the long-awaited Hearn Hub Civic Complex in Santa Rosa’s Roseland neighborhood to build a permanent library and a modern fire station that the community has long demanded — the multi-million dollar project is scheduled for completion in summer 2027. KSRO Radio
- ➤ Fire Station 5 in Fountaingrove reopened over the weekend after eight years following the Tubbs Fire—marking a key step in the community's recovery. The new 8,690-square-foot station cost $23.8 million and now houses a command center and a dedicated wildland fire engine. KSRO Radio
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Providence Health is planning to close the inpatient pediatrics ward at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital despite strong opposition from local pediatricians and county advisers — the change will force many low-income children to seek overnight care outside Sonoma County while the hospital continues to offer pediatric support in its Emergency Department and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
